Day 4 - On arrival at Kyoto Train station we grabbed lunch at a conveyor belt Sushi No-musashi at that station which was great quality for the price. We had 3 nights in Kyoto on our last trip so we were only doing one night this time at the Ritz Carlton Kyoto, they upgraded us to a ridiculous suite on the top floor with our own private rooftop balcony and garden so we ended up spending a bit of time in the room and in the garden relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views of the river and the mountains. We also had a $300 credit to use at the hotel so had a private Teppanyaki dinner with Filet, Lobster, and Foie gras which total cost was about $400 something but ultimately we just had to pay over $100, it was really good and probably a bit over indulgent. The in house Japanese restaurant has a Michelin star and has a sushi bar, a kaiseki area, and a private teppanyaki room.
Day 5 - Woke up super early and had a free amazing breakfast at the hotel, it's really one of my favorite hotel breakfasts I have had with the most amazing eggs with super rich orange yolks. Then we headed to Fushimi Inari, we got there around sunrise and hiked up most of the way as the sun was coming up, it was beautiful and barely anyone was there. I highly recommend getting there before the crowds. We then explored the Gion area, random side streets and then walked back towards the river and walked along it before heading back to the hotel to relax for a minute. Then we headed to the Suntory distillery for a tour which was pretty cool and at the end of that had the chance to taste a bunch of different whiskys and was able to pay a little extra to get to try the Hibiki 30 which was amazingly good. After the tour we headed back to the Ritz to enjoy the room a bit more as we had a 4PM late checkout. Checked out and then we headed to the station and hopped on the shin to Osaka
