stayed at: Urbain Hiroshima Central Hotel
I don't remember much about the rooms, but they had a nice breakfast buffet.
Restaurants
Ichiran Hiroshima Hondori-Shop - Interesting Ramen restaurant where we sat at a bar, with adjustable walls between seats and curtains toward the kitchen/waiters. You would order on a sheet of paper and hand that to your waiter. Then the curtain would be closed and a few minutes later the would hand over your order below the curtain. Felt like a very optimized process, like in a fast food restaurant, but it tasted great. Interesting experience.
Sights
Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum - I think it is your responisiblity as a human to visit this museum if you are going to Hiroshima. It is a very heavy topic and the pictures inside are disturbing, but the subject matter is just too important not to go.
If you have Kids maybe skip parts of the museum itself and visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial/Bomb Dome and educate them about it.
Miyajima - Small Island on western bay side of Hiroshima, accessible by ferry. The famous Tori standing in the Water is on this island and there are many gift shops and a few temples to visit. You can also hike up the mountain in about 2 hours.
Don Quijote - There are stores like these around Japan, not only Hiroshima, and also some in other countries. They sell all kinds of different products in one store, side-by-side. On aisle is bikes, the next one suitcases, directly beside entertainment electronics. And also some of them are open till 4 A. If you lost all your luggage in the middle of night, just go there and buy all you need. That may be normal in you country, but i have not seen a store like that in Europe. We had fun just walking through and be surprised about what we found.
