General Information
We arrived at and departed from Tokyo. Our route was -> Tokyo, Nagano, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Osaka, Tokyo.
For transportation we bought the Japan Rail Pass, a very good investment for everyone who wants to travel across the country in Japan
Stayed at Mitsui Garden Hotel Gotanda
It was a very nice Hotel.
We all had a small rooms but they looked nice and tidy. The Onsen at the top floor was wonderful, according to my fellow travelers. If you are going sightseeing all day i can definitely recommend it, since it's also near a central train station and seemed not expensive for Tokyo.
Restaurants
Cafe Moco - In Akihabara, very european feeling, weird to see this in this area, they are collecting currency from every country (as tips/ so bring yen)
CoCoIchibanya - awesome chain restaurant for japanese curry
"Izakaya Kurando"- I hope that's the correct name. Very small Izakaya near the Hotel in Gotanda. No english menu available. Staff barely speaks english but the owner was very welcoming. Reservation is a must, since it does not fit many people and there will be many regulars. But if you want to visit an "authentic" Izakaya. We were there twice during our time in Tokyo. Will definitely return on my next visit and check if he still has our photo we took.
Ippudo Gotanda East Exit - Great Ramen chain restaurant near the train station
Sushizanmai Tsukijiekimae-Ten - Very good sushi restaurant near the area where Tsujiki Fish market used to be.
Final Fantasy Eorzea Cafe - As a fan it was fun. The food was good but overpriced.
Sights
Tokyo Tower - As seen in many Animes, was great
Zozoji Temple - Beautiful temple area near Tokyo Tower
Tokyo Skytree - Higher viewing platform than the older Tokyo Tower. Sight was very Impressive.
Tokyo National Museum - Museum is really big with many interesting exhibits.
Akihabara - The whole area is filled with gaming, anime and popular culture shops. There are sereval arcades to visit, shops to crawl for your favourite tv show memorabilia and for adults there is M's Pop Life Department Store with 6 floors of costumes and toys.
Imperial Palace East Garden - Beautiful Garden in the city center near the Imperial Palace.
Sensoji - Giant Temples with a very touristy street with small gift shops on the way there.
Shibuya Crossing and Hachiko - Famous Street Crossing with the famous Hachiko statue.
Yoyogi Park and Meiji-jingu - One example of the many truly green areas in this big city. Great Place to visit.
Takeshita-dori - Small and busy shopping street for clothing and kawaii-lifestyle.
Artnia - Square Enix Cafe & Merchandise shop. As a fan it was a must see to buy some things...
Big Echo Karaoke - Karaoke chain, you get your own room and pay per person and time. They have a giant song library with many international and english songs (not just japanese).
Tsukiji Fish Market - The original fish market has been moved to Toyosu Market, but there are still many restaurants and some stores who sell seafood.
Hamarikyu Park - Beautiful Park
