We arrived back in Tokyo, spent one night there and in the next morning took a bullet train to Nikko.
It's a beautiful town in the mountains, full of temples and great scenery.
We had already seen similar sights in Takayama, Kyoto, Kawaguchiko, so this place didn't really bring anything new to us. Don't get me wrong, Nikko is gorgeous town, there is lots to see, but be warned, it will take a lot of energy to explore it, since most of it is an up-hill walk. There is also a beautiful bridge with a great view of a valley, it was great.
When walking back from the temples to the train station, we found a guy making and selling these tasty things (check the attached photo), you can choose the filling either cream or red beans, we took the cream and it was super delicious. If you see such a place, try it out, it's worth the money. Also, don't take anything filled with beans, it's not tasty at all.
I am not sure, if I would take this day trip again, since we had seen a lot of nature in Kamikochi and Takayama already, and we had seen enough temples for one trip already. Maybe spend the extra day in Tokyo, the city is limitless and never sleeps. There's so much to see there!
