Kawaguchiko (河口湖) |
In the morning we go to Kawaguchiko. Check in from 13:00. We planed to arrive at that time, but were delayed 4 hours, because a few days ago was a typhoon, which flooded all major bullet trains, so we had to take a very long detour by 5 or 6 connecting trains. But the people in train station were helpful and explained what we had to do, and also there were passengers abour the trains who showed us where to go next. Kawaguchiko station: 河口湖駅 Shinjuku station: 新宿駅 In evening we arrived at our hotel, spent some time walking around ,enjoying the view. Then we found a local restaurant and had our dinner. |
Tokyo -> Kawaguchiko. In early morning we go to Ginza metro station and take the Ginza line (local asakusa) till we reach Nihombashi (platform 2, stop id: G09). Go to Tokyo Station Yaeshu North Exit Tekko building. |

Kawaguchiko |
Had our morning coffee in one of the local cafes, and then we rented electrical bicycles for the whole and rode around the lake. It was a great day. We found a local who sold us these really huge grapes and they were so tasty! Travelling with an electric bicycle was the right choice in this town, there is a lot of see, but you cannot get there with public transport and its not within walking distance. |

Night bus to Kyoto. We decided to save a couple of hundred euros by taking a night bus, which turned out to be pleasant! They had a curtain between each seat and they even gave us slippers! |
Kawaguchiko -> Kyoto at night. Ticket bought beforehand, but must be activated 1 or 2 days before using. |
When we arrived at Kawaguchiko station, we decided to take a taxi to our hotel, even though it wasn't that far, we just wanted to experience how it is to drive a taxi in Japan. It was delightful! The taxi interior was covered in white cloth, driver was using gloves and was extra careful not to take sharp turns. It was a very pleasant drive! He didn't speak a word in english, but we just showed him the address on google maps and he took us there.
Also remember to take a lot of cash, they don't accept credit cards in most places. Even in top Ginza restaurants sometimes they just accept cash, which was a bit strange.
The stay at Togawaso was quiet nice, we got a view of Mt.Fuji, even though it was covered in clouds in the next day - we got to see it in full splendor in the day we arrived, along with a nice sunset.
The Kawaguchiko town is the opposite of Tokyo - it was very quiet and relaxing with fantastic mountain views.
