Lodging: 民權路7-2號2樓, 花蓮市, 花蓮縣 97059, Taiwan (AirBnB)
Also $57/night with a slightly less service fee and taxes, is a street apartment that is just a short walk away from a long, paved trail that takes you along the coastline of Hualien. Even better, this apartment includes two bikes for guests!
Hualien is one of my favorite places in Taiwan due to its laid-back nature with views of cliffs by the ocean and a not so far drive inland towards the famous Taroko National Park. Taroko Gorge is a must-see for anyone in Taiwan. This is a world-class national park that must be explored on your own two feet. With semi-frequent seismic activity, rockfall and landslides are a bit worrysome, but I believe there isn't a place like it anywhere else.
Hualien also has some night markets that are worth checking out. At night you will feel like you are in moped city! Lastly, I have to include a photo of the best lamb noodles at a popular Hualien restaurant.
