Day 6: Day trip to Nara.
Started the day by taking the JR Nara line to Fushimi inari - the very instagrammable shrine with hundreds of torii gates.
Then we continued on the Nara line to Nara city. Nara is a small town and everything can be reached on foot from the JR station. We stopped at Kofuku-ji temple (left) on the way to Nara park (right). The park is full of friendly deer waiting to be fed cookies (which you can buy at the many carts in the park)
Next we went to Todaiji temple, a Buddhist temple. It’s the largest wooden building in the world and houses a large statue of Buddha.
… followed by an easy hike up Mt. Wakakusayama, which had scenic views of Nara, and more deer.
