I left Seville with a heavy heart, but excited to be at our next destination --Barcelona! We stayed at Hotel Colonial Barcelona, which was pretty good and centrally located.
Day 1
We dropped our luggage in the hotel and went for a walk in the Barri Gotic (Gothic Quarters). This is the old town of Barcelona with cobbled streets and some amazing bars and restaurants. We then walked over to Catedral de la Seu/Cathedral of Barcelona.
Of course, a must-see here is the Las Ramblas, the famous 1.2 km pedestrianized walkway which also houses the La Boqueria marketplace. We had some amazing Paella and bought souvenirs and spices to bring back home.
If you have time, you can visit Santa Maria del Mar. One thing to remember throughout Spain, be ready to stand and eat. It is very common to order tapas with wine in crowded bars and you are expected to eat and drink without being seated.
Day 2
A visit to Barcelona is incomplete without a visit to the one and only La Sagrada Familia. World famous for its absolutely stunning architecture, and its creator, Spanish/Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. Please buy tickets ahead of time because you do not want to miss this.
Following that we visited the other famous works of Gaudí. Park Guell is so colorful and full of life. The visit itself doesn't take that long but it is a very popular and busy place. We didn't go inside any other modernist buildings but just took a stroll around Casa Batllo and Casa Amatller.
Day 3
The last day of our trip took it easy and enjoyed a leisurely cruise from La Barceloneta, the beach neighborhood. We then wrapped up our visit with a stroll through Arc de Trimof and Ciutadella Park. Barcelona reminded me of New York City in a lot of ways. Recommend spending more days in this beautiful city if you have time.
Paella and your itinerary is awesome as always
Spain looks awesome 😃
