Day 5: Arrive in Mykonos by a speed ferry. This was a fat, and comfortable way to travel to Mykonos. Be prepared to leave very early on this day to catch the first ferry of the morning. You will arrive in Mykonos by mid morning where you will have time to walk through Mykonos Town.
- See the iconic windmills in Mykonos Town, built as early as the 16th century
- View Little Venice, the charming neighborhood right along the Aegean Sea
- Pass the Church of Panagia Paraportiani and admire its unique architectur
After your time together in Mykonos Town, you will have the afternoon to explore by yourself. This is a great time to get lunch at a local Mykonos restaurant, stop for drinks of the crystal clear banks of Little Venice and enjoy gelato in the Old Port looking out at the colorful fishing boats. If you're lucky, you will even catch a glimpse of Petros, a pale whitish-pink pelican who is the offical mascot of Mykonos, wandering through the streets.
Check into your hotel, Pelican Bay (3 nights), where you will have time to settle in before meeting with the group for dinner in Mykonos Town. We dined at Funky Kitchen and it was amazing! The food was authentic and the service was exceptional.
Day 6: Today is a free day, unless you opt to have an optional tour. The tour offered is a Cooking Demonstration, wine tasting, and lunch. We opted to have a free day to explore the island on our own. To do this, we rented ATVs (other options are scooters or cars) and set off to explore the isnad. We drove all over the island uncovering places like the Mykonos Lighthouse, perched high above a rocky cliff overlooking the crystal clear, aqua blue waters, as well a local beach with only a small number of people. Here we has an up close encounter with a driendly octopus and dined on lunch at a local beach restaurant right off the sand.
After the day of exploring the island, we had lunch a local restaurant (just 1 street over from our hotel) at Blue Myth and this was probably the best meal I had. Here you can choose which piece of local seafood you would like them to prepare for you for dinner and the restaurant is located just steps from the beach, again, overlooking the beautiful waters of the sea.
Day 7: Another free day in Mykonos with an optional tour to the town of Delos. Mykonos is such a fun and vibrant island, that we decided to have another free to explore the island on our rented ATVs. Today we started our exploring back at the Old Port and Mykonos Town. There are endless souvenir shops, bars, restaurants, old churches, and winding alleyways to explore here, you could easily spend hours wandering up and down the alleys taking in all the sites and local culture. After spending the morning here, we found another local beach, scarcely populated and spent the afternoon cooling off in the water that is so clear you can see all the way to the bottom. Note: the beaches here are not covered by sand but peebles and stones, and water shoes are strongly recommended.
If you are interested in the social scene, Mykonos is known as the party island and there is no shortage of bars and nightclubs. For this evening, we visited Club Tropicana and Cavo Paradiso. Cavo Paradiso is one of the Top 10 Best Nightclubs in the World. This is definitely something to experience even if you aren't a "clubber". The vibe and atmosphere are infectious and you can't help but to have a good time.
Day 8: Take a ferry to Santorini, then enjoy free time to discover the island’s volcanic black-sand beaches, cliff-lined shores, and stunning whitewashed architecture.
