Budapest was another stop gap between Prague and Berlin. It turned out to be one of my favorite cities I visited on the trip and I wish I had more time there. I started things off visiting the museum in Buda Castle. The walk up to the castle from the river is lovely with great sightlines all across Budapest.
That night, I took a boat tour along the Danbue and got to see the Parliament building and many other iconic buildings in the city from the water. Really a lovely experience.
Budapest was the only city that I had to take a taxi in. My flight landed fairly late at night and their metro closes fairly early. It wasn't expensive, but it was a surprise that I wasn't able to take their transit system.
I also flew out of a smaller airport south of the city. I took the train which dropped me right at the airport and booked a hotel room in a nearby hotel. It looked close enough to walk to on the map, but due to the layout I had to take a taxi there. The hotel did have a shuttle service back to the airport the next morning for 5 Euro.
Did you try the famous paella? Spain is just beautiful
