DAY 5
On the fifth day of traveling,I caught the flight from Vegas to L.A.I arrived in the morning, and I had breakfast at a mexican restaurant.I took a bus to get to Hollywood,my main target in L.A.There,I checked out the Hollywood Museum.I paid $30 for entrance, which was kinda crazy but I enjoyed the museum a lot.I'm a big fan of cinematography,as I mentioned before,so it was a cool experience.I learned a lot of stuff about movies and about how some of them are made.Seeing the costumes and other items used in particular movies. It's a great place, even though the admision fee is kinda high.
My next target was the Walk of Fame down the street.Being one of the most recongnizable landmarks around the world,it was pretty awesome to see it in person. It was kinda crowded, but still awesome to see the stars of some of my favorite film performers and musicians.I met a very talented guy impersonating Michael Jackson,so it was pretty great.I also checked out the Chinese Theatre and the Egyptian Theatre. Two very interesting places, but I didn't have any time to watch films,so I set off.
After having lunch in Little Armenia,I went to the Griffith Park and Observatory to get a view of the Hollywood sign.It was put up there for real-estate development, but now it's the image that many see in their minds when they think of Los Angeles. The view over the city was also very beautiful, and it made for some nice pictures.I waited there until the evening,to get a view of this beautiful city at sundown.
The cheapest room I could find was in Westwood,at a hostel for $55 a night.
DAY 6
In the sixth day,I took a bus to Chinatown, where I had streetfood for lunch, before heading over to Santa Monica. There,I rented a bike and I cycled around the beautiful pier for hours, checking out the charming streets full of souvenir shops and unique items. It was pretty hot,so I decided to walk to Venice Beach,to go for a swim.Unfortunately,a seagull took a dump on my shirt,so I had to get another from the shops nearby.I spent the rest of the day on the pier in Santa Monica, watching the sunset.I was exhausted,so I took the bus back home.Somehow though,I fell asleep on the bus,and I somehow found myself in Compton.I saw a McDonalds down the street,so I went there to have dinner, and then I found the right bus and got back home at around midnight.
DAY 7
In the seventh day,I took the plane to San Francisco.I nearly missed the flight,as I got there at the last call, but I caught it fortunately. In San Francisco,I took a taxi to the Cable Car Museum, where I took a ride on the city's renowned cable car-the last manually operated cable car in the whole world. It was built in 1873,and a ticket costs $6.I took the Powell-Hyde route, which ends on the famous Fisherman's Wharf neighbourhood. There,I had seafood for lunch, before taking a $40 ferry ride across the bay,to get to the Alcatraz Island.
The Rock holds one of the most notorious prisons of all time. The prison was closed off in the 60's and it used to be the home of some of the toughest criminals in America, such as Al Capone,Alvin Karpis and Machine Gun Kelly.Only two people were able to escape it out of the 1500 that were incarcerated there. The ticket and the audio guide came with the ferry ride, and it's totally worth the price. The audio guide was very high quality and informative. It was incredible and I totally recommend visiting it.
Back on the mainland,I ate at In-N-Out and I had an icecream at the Ghirardelli Ice Cream Shop.I continued my visit by taking a bus to the Golden Gate Bridge, one of the most iconic and recognizable bridges in the world. The sky was clear,so I had a very beautiful view from the bridge over the skyline of the city, the bay and the Alcatraz Island.I walked across the bridge and back,as many movies such as "The Planet of the Apes" took place there.I slept at the FOUND hotel for around $40 a night.
DAY 8
In the final day of the trip,I hired a motorcycle to drive to the Muir Woods National Monument. The park is very clean and not crowded at all.I enjoyed a hike in the park around the redwood trees, which amazed me a lot.I spent a few hours there, but I got back in town before nightfall.
