Activities
We arrived in Bari Airport very early in the morning, as one would expect this year there were a lot of COVID-19 related restrictions and precautions, most of the time we and everybody else were wearing masks, even during the whole flight, we thought it would be difficult to relax but we kind of got used to all the things that were required of us, so not that big of a deal.
Since this was a last minute trip, we had a lot of trouble finding a rental car, we had searched online in nearly all company websites, but absolutely nothing was available, except for trucks and cargo vehicles. A day before our flight, we found one sketchy rental company called Goldcar and they still had a Fiat Panda left, so we reserved it. Unfortunately that was a mistake, I cannot stress this enough - never ever in your right mind do ANY business with the Goldcar company, we learned it the hard way. They are absolute scammers and will try to charge you for non-existing things, they intentionally give out cars that are nearly broken, so you would break down somewhere on the highway and then you'd pay a lot of money for roadside assistance, and they will do everything to sell 200 EUR extra insurance, if you don't buy it, then they will charge you with extremely high fees for things you did not break, after the trip.
Anyway, we paid the 200 eur insurance, just to be safe we won't get scammed more money out of us and went on with our trip.
Our hotel was about 250km away from Bari, in a small town called Peschici, so we immediately started driving there. The roads were perfect, you can take the highway which doesn't really have a speedlimit, well, it's like 130 km/h or 140km/h, but in reality everyone was going as fast as they liked, there were some people going like 200 km/h.
On our way we stopped for a coffee in some random small town we found, once we got out of our car, we realised we aren't really dressed for the weather - we arrived in jeans and long sleeved shirts, but it was +30 C degrees outside, so we quickly drank our coffee and got back in our air conditioned car.
Accomodation
We wanted this to be a perfectly relaxing trip without much travelling, so we booked a hotel right by the Adriatic sea in the city of Peschici.
We chose "Hotel Corona Beach Peschici", link: https://www.booking.com/hotel/it/corona-peschici.html
And it turned out to be exactly what we wanted! We had a room with a lovely view of the garden, and once you stepped outside, it's literally like 100 meters till you reach the sea, and they served cheap cocktails with a lot of alcohol in them, Aperol Spritz cost like 4 EUR, and they literally filled half the glass with Aperol and the other with champagne, it was perfect!
The waves in the sea were awesome for most of the time! There was even a day when they were as big as the ones you'd have in an ocean, that was spectacular, since we love swimming in huge waves.
Food
The hotel didn't really have a restaurant, they only served breakfast, but that wasn't an issue - they gave us a discount at a nearby pizzeria, which also was right by the sea and their food was excellent - pastas, pizzas and all sorts of sea food.
Most of the cafes here serve cocktails for good prices, so we didn't have to spend too much money on the food and drinks.
By the way, if you want a pizza, like me, then you will have an unpleasant surprise that they don't serve pizza any time but the late evening. There wasn't a single place where we could buy it the morning or afternoon, you will have to wait till at least 19:30 because at that time they start cooking their large pizza ovens, we found this was the same all across the town. But once you got the pizza, it was really delicious, especially, the ones with all sorts of sea delicacies, since they catch them here locally.
