So I arrived here after taking a train from Asahikawa. Noboribetsu has volcanic activity in its town which leads to very cool places to see and great onsens which lead to Noboribetsu being an onsen resort.
Due to the volcanic activity the onsens here have unique water filled with sulfur, minerals and more which although don't have the best smell, makes your skin feel really go afterwards and overall it feels really natural and not just heated water.
Outside of the onsens, there is a place called Jigokudani ("Hell Valley") which is where you can see all the volcanic activity (things like geyzers, hot steam vents, etc).
I stayed in a hostel called " Noboribetsu Guest House AKA & AO" which was great and had very big & private bunk beds, nice ammenities all around.
I was lucky enough to meet two Taiwanese people, a brother & sister which were super friendly and offered to take me with their car onto my next destination which was Hakodate, so I didn't use public tranport for once! On our way there we stopped to see Lake Toya which is a huge and beautiful lake, if you can definitely go and visit.
