Mysore - The City Of Royalty

The city of Mysore is called the Cultural capital of the Karnataka state of India. Mysore presents an ideal location where you can get a glimpse of its grandeur past, explore magnificent architecture, art galleries and museums, admire the scenic beauty of lakes and gardens and experience its rich culture and traditions that can be seen at every corner of the city.

Day 1

We reached the Bangalore Railway Station via a train from Mumbai and continued to Mysore (Bangalore to Mysore 3 Hrs & 145 Kms) via a pre-booked cab. Enroute we checked out Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple and Gumbaz in Srirangapatna. On Arrival at Mysore, we checked-in to our Hotel and then proceeded to below Mysore Sightseeing Places:

• Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple - a beautiful temple dedicated to the Hindu god Ranganatha
• Gumbaz - the grave of the famous ruler of Mysore Tipu Sultan
• KRS Dam
• Mysore Brindavan Gardens - located just besides the KRS Dam, this garden is one of the most scenic places to visit in and around Mysore. 

Day 2

• Chamundi Hills, which includes
  • Chamundeshwari Temple - located atop the Chamundi Hills. 
  • Statue of Mahishasura and Nandi 
• Mysore Zoological Gardens - one of the oldest and most popular zoos in India
• Mysore Maharaja Palace - the MUST VISIT place in Mysore, it is the former palace of the royal family of Mysore and is still their official residence. Mysore Palace is renowned for its light & sound show and vibrant Dussehra celebrations. An architecture marvel.
• St. Philomena's Cathedral
• Mysore Railway Museum - worth a visit if you like vintage collection of trains

Day 3

• Jagan Mohan Palace - it used to be a retreat home for the Royal family. Again, amazing architecture. 
• Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery - located inside the Jaganmohan Palace, the gallery is most famous for having in its collection 16 original paintings by world-renowned painter Raja Ravi Verma.
