Day 4-5:
Towards the end of our 4th day, I knew I had to make 1 all important stop. THE GIANT GUNDAM STATUE IN DIVER CITY! Diver City is a beautiful shopping mall district, with tons of familiar faces. If you like Crocs, or Auntie Annes pretzals, you will have some extra fun checking outr their Japanese variants. Also crepes in the amazing food court there are a MUST try for fans.
We checked out the statue, and it was absolutely gorgeous, but we were told that at night it "transforms' so to get my Gundam fix in the interim, we checked out the largest Gundam store, likely in all of Japan. Years upon years of different model kits, and prebuilts, special variants ,etc. It is truly a beuatuiful sight for a fan. That evening we headed back outside the mall to check out the statue, and the lights were astonishing, a sight to see if you have time for sure.
The next day we headed out to Kyoto to see more of the traditonal side of Japan. WARNING, it is very much a tourist trap, so albeit beautiful, if you are hoping to see a more majestic , peaceful, traditional side of Japan, you'll want to note Kyoto is VERY BUSY. Hop on your local bullet train, and head out in about an hour to see the temples, and cranes that very much sit like statues before you approach (careful!)
