Myanmar - The hidden gem of Asia

Monywa...

...is what I like to call a hidden gem. Normally people might be taking a day trip form Mandalay to this place, but if you want to see an authentic place, Monywa is amazing. Of course, Myanmar in general is traditional and nothing is "put there to increase tourism". But the atmosphere of a small town is something I absolutely enjoyed.

Hotel Chindwin, was an amazing accommodation because the included breakfast was delicious and although it is on the more expensive side the value for money is great.

One day (2 nights) is enough to see the sights and stroll around in the city. To visit all the things around the area, I recommend getting a Tuk-Tuk-driver for the day. (Just ask at your accommodation). Thanboddhay Paya is one of the beautiful Temples Myanmar is so famous for. From there you can continue your trip to Laykyun Sekkya Buddha, and the temples surrounding it. This is one of the most underrated places I have ever been to. Seeing this massive statue and climbing the top of the Pagoda seeing an amazing view from the top was one of my favourite things in this country.
