We first started our journey by taking a train-roughly 3 hours from Amsterdam to Brugge. Our Itinerary was short but packed:
Day 1:Arrived early to our hotel-'Dukes Palace' which was the nicest hotel in the small town. Although a bit pricey, the hotel is conveniently placed in the heart of the city and walking distance to all attractions. Our first stop was the main square which is called Markt we had drinks (Aperol Spritz) and planned our day. The great thing about being in the Markt is that the 'Belfry Tower' is in the heart of it. This tower was in the hollywood movie 'In Brugge' and you can take, for a small fee, a climb to the top! The view is magnificient and you can take in the whole city. After climbing down the many steps (took approximately 10 minutes) we went in search of food. Options for restraunts were a bit slim in the winter time as we went in January but we did manage to find a local Pub where we had some fish and chips. We wondered the town and went window shopping in the many chocolate shops. We called it an early night and settled for a drink back at the hotel.
Day 2: In the morning we stopped at the 'Chocolate House' which gives you the opportunity of picking your type of chocolate and is served with a hot mug of milk where you then drop in your selected chocolate pieces-incredible! After our delicious hot chocolate, we walked to see the famous weeping willow on the Quai du Rosaire. This area is great for pictures and scenery. As the weather was a bit brisk we then found an old brewery -'Le Trappiste' which is one of the worlds oldest. I reccomend coming here if you enjoy a cool vibe and great beers. We went back to the hotel as we were to leave the next morning for Ghent.
