Bovec
Took an overnight bus to Ljubljana from Sarajevo then immediately took another bus over to Bovec. I really wanted to go canyoning and possibly some other outdoor activities but this was planned poorly on my part. It turned out to be a lot of bus riding back and forth to the other side of the country since the bus also picks up and drops off local kids at school. The scenery is very beautiful but plan to stay here at least 4 days including travel times.
Ljubljana/Skocjan
After the Bovec trip I rested up for a day and walked around the city. There was a standard walking tour, the museum, and the castle that I checked out in one day. By this point in the trip I was a bit tired and worn from travelling but I didn't want to miss out on anything. I decided to take a day trip to Skocjan by train as I either wanted to do that or the other cave at Predjama. Bled really didn't interest me since it's basically just a instagram destination where you can't really do anything exciting. Skocjan was great and I absolutely loved the caves. It feels exactly like what you would imagine walking into Moria from LotR would. After the cave tour I rushed back to make the early afternoon train. I heard about an excellent open food market in Ljubljana on Fridays and I didn't want to miss it. There is a ton of options for food here and I highly recommend trying horse meat (I tried Kuhinja Krusic). I left Saturday morning for another 13 hour flight home.
Love the photos. Slovenia and Croatia just got bumped up on my to-visit list :P
Amazing itinerary and pictures! The Dubrovnik pictures are so close to how they show in the 'Game of Thrones' show :)
