Because I love to try local beers when I travel, you will find a beer place recommended at the end of each page
Activities
Wander through the city
Remnants of the war scar most of the city, you will see abandonned buildings, destroyed facades and even famous urbex spots for those interested. I would advise to read a bit about the history of Mostar to better appreciate it.
The Old Town and the Bridge
The Old Town of Mostar is quite crowded with tourists during summer. Some people come from far away to see the pristine river, the charming alleys and to browse through the old bazar stalls. You will find all kinds of souvenirs to bring back, like for example a copper Turkish coffee set.
Have a turkish coffee near the river
Speaking of Turkish coffee, many cafes in the old town serve them, some on beautiful terraces near the water. If you like coffee, you should definitely experience this !
Lodging
I've been several times in Mostar, I tried different hostels and guest houses, and the one I higly recommend is Sundari Guest House. The owner is really nice and the house is sparkling clean. The breakfast was offered and the value for money was incredible. I would go back in a heartbeat !
Where to eat
In the middle of the Olt Town, near the bridge, you will find a restaurant called Sadrvan (or the Fountain Shelter on Google maps). There you will find authentic and local cuisine at a very affordable price. The place is quite full of tourists, but this means they have an English menu and English speaking waiters. And the food is reeeally good !
Beer time
If I told you you can drink fresh and delicious local beers, while looking over the city from a pretty little terrace ? The Black Dog Pub and the Craft Beer Garden imaimože are both situated in the heart of the Old Town, just next to each other. They have a different atmosphere, the Black Dog Pub being a famous rock pub, which sometimes organizes concerts at night, and the Beer Garden Imaimoze being more, well, like a beer garden. The first one being frequented by locals while the second is more geared to tourists. But if you like IPA and hipster craft beers, the Beer Garden will be your place of choice.
Great itinerary, how good is the public transportation?
