SAIGON!
What a culturally rich city. I love this place. Somewhere inbetween the hectic traffic and alllll the little pho shops I find happiness and peace. This place is truly wonderful and I hope to return there again one day. I'm gonna share with you just a few of my favorite spots around this beautiful city.
LANDMARK 81 PARK!
This is an amazing little spot especially in the evening. It's pretty quiet even with a bunch of people there. The park is located outside of the Landmark 81 tower, the tallest building in SEA! You can pay about $50 to ride the elevator all the way up to the 81st floor for a remarkable view that you sure won't forget. The rest of the building operates as a shopping mall and residency tower.
COFFEE!
You can find coffee and practically any corner in Vietnam, but I especially enjoyed it in Saigon. It's hard to find a favorite place when there are so many to choose from. I spent alot of time hanging out in District 12. A bit of a jaunt from the city center but I promise you this is where you will find good coffee. Bingo Coffee, Rovina Cafe and Rokkk Cafe are all so wonderful, and the hospitality is on point. Rovina cafe hosts a plethora of hammocks available for you to hang out in if you feel like swinging away the afternoon while sipping an ice cold vietnamese coffee.
CRAFT BEER!
If you're into craft beer like I am then you will most certainly enjoy Heart of Darkness brewery. Such an amazing spot with quite a few beers on tap. They offer flights so you can get a sampling of multiple different beers! Awesome! Another amazing joint is Biacraft, their food menu is to die for and offers a really decent western-style menu for all of you craving a proper pub meal.
STREET FOOD!
Is literally everywhere you look. You can't walk 20 feet without finding some type of food being sold. The choices are endless. My personal favorite is the classic staple: PHO! You can get bowls for as cheap as $1 in some of the further districts but expect to pay closer to $2.50/$3 in the city center. In village areas you can find most food for around $1. Another personal favorite is COM TAM! It's basically just rice with whatever you choose out of the cart, dimsum style. Give me some rice, veggies, pork belly, spring rolls, and some soup...I'M HAPPY!
EXPLORATION!
Vietnam is a beautiful country and it's worth exploring in it's entirety if you have the time. I suggest renting a motorbike from the city and taking it around the local area and perhaps out of the city to other areas such as Vung Tau or Chu Chi area. I highly suggest looking into Style Motorbikes for rentals. Their customer service was on point and it was fairly cheap to rent a bike for a semi long term contract. Overall Ho Chi Minh is fairly easy to navigate...Except during rush hour on a weekend! Brace yourself!
I'm in love with the country of Vietnam and intend to return one day. If you have any questions or comments about the trip just let me know! What an excellent place to be.
