Costa Rica’s capital, San José, is in the Central Valley. It has world-class museums, parks, hotels, theaters, and historic buildings. We wanted to visit the Osa Penninsula, so we didn't stay in the capital for too long. I traveled with my girlfriend, Mary and our 2 mutal best friends, who also formed a couple like us, keen of travelling.
The first day,
We arrived in the Juan Santamaria International Airport ( SJO ), and we bought a day pass from the bus station. It costed $3 and we could have taken the bus anytime that day without paying for a single-ride ticket. We took the bus to the hotel, where we booked 2 rooms at the starting price of $23/night. It was early in the morning by the time we arrived, so we went to our rooms and took a nap until we were rested enough to visit the downtown of San Jose. After we woke up, Mary told me that our 2 friends were waiting for us outside the hotel, so I immediately got dressed and went downstairs. We walked to the downtown and wandered around for a couple of hours. It features a wide array of leafy plazas and European-inspired architecture, which is exemplified in the stately post office building and the opulent Teatro Nacional (National Theater). Evening came and we decided to go back to the hotel and watch a match of soccer in the hub, then rest for the next day.
Note : Our travel plan was San Jose (first day) - Osa Penninsula (3 days) - San Jose (final day) so I recommend reading the Osa "part" before reading the final day in San Jose.
The final day,
We were still in Drake Bay at Pacheco Tours and Cabins, we packed up and ate breakfast, then took the bus to San Jose. The journey costs around $26 and it is 12 hours long. The benefits of this method of transportation is that you can see half of Costa Rica and you can meet new people like we did. We arrived at 7 p.m in the San Jose Airport and took the flight at 8 p.m back to our country
Overall, a great trip! If you are a nature-lover, you should definetly visit the Osa Penninsula, or Costa Rica. It is a bit pricey, so be prepared to spend more money than you planned on spending!
