Everest Base Camp Trek with Helicopter Return – Luxury Adventure with Discover Altitude Trek
A group of five friends set out with a dream to experience Mount Everest in person, and our journey was nothing short of extraordinary. Recommended by a close friend, we chose Discover Altitude Trek for their impeccable service, and they ensured every detail was taken care of. Here’s a look at our amazing 14-day journey:
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
We landed in Nepal, where we were warmly welcomed by the Discover Altitude team. After our arrival, we were transferred to a comfortable hotel to relax after the long flight.
Day 2: Exploring Kathmandu’s Heritage
We spent the day touring UNESCO World Heritage sites, including visits to the famous Kumari (Living Goddess). A fully guided tour allowed us to experience the culture and history of Kathmandu in depth.
Day 3: Helicopter to Lukla & Trek to Phakding
A thrilling helicopter flight took us from Kathmandu to Lukla. From there, we began our trek toward Phakding (2,610m), where we stayed overnight at Yeti Mountain Home.
Day 4: Phakding to Namche Bazaar
We hiked from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m), gaining an altitude of 830 meters. The evening was spent relaxing at the world’s highest pub, "Irish Pub," where we enjoyed coffee and the breathtaking views.
Day 5: Namche Bazaar to Everest View Hotel
To acclimatize, we hiked to the Everest View Hotel for lunch and an overnight stay. Our room had spectacular views of Mount Everest. Normally trekkers return to Namche for acclimatization, but our guide’s recommendation made this day unforgettable.
Day 6: Namche Bazaar to Deboche
We continued our hike to Deboche, passing the famous Tengboche Monastery along the way. Since there are no luxury lodges in Tengboche, we trekked a bit further to reach Deboche, where we stayed for the night.
Day 7: Deboche to Dingboche
Our trek continued to Dingboche (4,410m). The journey was slow due to the altitude, but we enjoyed a relaxed evening playing cards and singing with the locals before resting for the night.
Day 8: Acclimatization Day in Dingboche
Another acclimatization day saw us hiking to Nagartsang Hill for panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. In the afternoon, we relaxed with coffee while taking in the serene landscape.
Day 9: Dingboche to Lobuche
We trekked to Lobuche (4,940m), a slow-paced hike due to the high altitude. Along the way, we enjoyed a traditional Dal Bhat meal at Thukla before reaching Lobuche.
Day 10: Lobuche to Gorak Shep & Everest Base Camp
This was the moment we had all been waiting for—visiting Everest Base Camp (5,364m)! After trekking to Gorak Shep, we finally reached our dream destination, standing beneath the mighty Everest.
Day 11: Helicopter Return to Kathmandu
We had an early morning helicopter pickup to return to Kathmandu in style. The breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayas made this journey unforgettable.
Day 12: Exploring Kathmandu
We spent another day exploring Kathmandu, visiting Bhaktapur and Pashupatinath Temple, immersing ourselves in Nepalese culture and architecture.
Day 13: Nepali Cooking Class & Shopping
We took a fun and informative Nepali cooking class, learning to prepare traditional dishes. Later, we enjoyed last-minute shopping in Kathmandu’s vibrant markets.
Day 14: Departure from Nepal
It was time to say goodbye to Nepal. After an unforgettable adventure, we headed to the airport for our departure, each of us carrying memories that will last a lifetime.
This Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek not only fulfilled our dream of seeing Everest but also allowed us to experience the rich culture and natural beauty of Nepal. From the helicopter rides to the serene high-altitude lodges, every step of the journey was meticulously planned and absolutely worth it.
