Day 1: We started the morning with the famous breakfast from “the Bindery'', the favorite “Chris’s Hash” which comes with potatoes, veggies, 2 eggs your way, and hollandaise and roasted coffee. After having breakfast we went to see the Colorado state capitol. The Capitol is open Monday-Friday, 7:30-5:00. Daily tours are available Monday-Friday at 10:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 2:00pm. The Capitol building was designed by Elijah E. Myers, and its construction lasted from 1886 through 1901. The Colorado Capitol was designed on an axis in the form of a Greek cross and resembles the basic design of the nation’s Capitol in Washington, D.C. These tours take about an hour and include a trip to the dome observation area. The dome is a 99 step climb above the 3rd floor and is accessible by stairs only. If you are not able to make the climb, they offer a video presentation of the dome on the third floor.
The state of Colorado is a little bit magical. At least, that’s how I feel every time I get to visit the great state. For a taste of old-time Denver, spend some time in Larimer Square – also a good place to sample some of the city's cuisine and, of course, beer. Although the city has since expanded, this historic neighborhood remains the heart and soul of the Mile High City, and according to some, it's the place to start your Denver experience. We had an amazing time there seeing the beauties from surrounding murals, local shops, bars, painting shops etc. This place gives you the historical essence of denver. Later when we were headed to The 16th Street Mall, we also stopped at Daniels & Fisher. Daniels & Fisher features an iconic clock tower built in 1910 for a department store that has a large bell & an observation deck. This palace is a must to click a snap for you.
The 16th Street Mall is to Denver what Rodeo Drive is to Los Angeles. This mile-long pedestrian thoroughfare, which stretches across the southern end of the LoDo district. If you're not up for walking, hop aboard the free MallRide shuttle bus, which passes by every few minutes and stops at every street corner. After sundown, you might skip the bus and opt for a horse-and-carriage ride instead. Travelers say this is the place to window-shop, grab a bite to eat and pick up souvenirs.
Day 2: On day two we went to Denver Botanic Gardens, which features 24 acres long and wide gardens for visiting to explore. If you're feeling a little overwhelmed by all the gardens have to offer, consider tagging along on a guided tour. Docent-led tours (which cost $14 for non-members) focus both on the flora and the art found throughout the facility. After grabbing lunch from local food trucks near downtown we went to explore the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Denver Museum of Nature & Science exhibits featuring everything from dinosaur bones to Egyptian mummies. The Denver Museum of Nature & Science inspires learning in the young and young at heart. This impressive facility houses artifacts pertaining to a variety of scientific areas, including anthropology, zoology, geology, health sciences, paleontology and space science. This is a very nice place for kids! This place will be very valuable for learning young minds.
With galleries showcasing more than 70,000 works by famed artists such as Vincent Van Gogh and Winslow Homer, the Denver Art Museum houses one of the most impressive collections of art between Chicago and the West Coast. The admission fee is $13 for adults; free for kids 6-18 and open from Mon-Thurs, Sat-Sun 10 a.m.-5 p.m. You can spend around 2 to 3 hours depending on your interest. This is also a must see place if you have kids. This place is very informative.
In the evening we spend the whole time in Larimer Square, meeting our friends and dining there. This place in the evening is a very magical and happening place.
We enjoyed the Denver trip :)
Great itinerary, it seems like Denver is reasonably priced, is that accurate?
