Day 1
We got up and out early to the Accademia to see the Statue of David. While there are some other things to see there, David is the star. Afterwards we went to the Uffizi. This is an absolute must do and you can easily spend all day here. Definitely buy tickets in advance because the line was enormous. After dinner at Ruth's (a local kosher restaurant), we went to the Pizzale Michelangiolo. This is a gorgeous location overlooking the entire city. There's also another statue of David up here. Note that it is a hike!! There are a lot of steps but thte view is worth it.
Day 2
Today was devoted to the Boboli Gardens and Palazzo Pitti. This is an an enormous palace filled with art, beautiful furniture, and history. You can add on the gardens in the back which are absolutely beautiful. They are also a huge hike, we were very out of breath by the time we made it to the top, but once again the view was worth it! To get here, you have to cross Ponte Vecchio, which is a really cool bridge filled with little shops to visit.
Day 3
For our last day in Florence we went to the Mercato Nuovo which is a very cool market that's been open since the 11th century! Lots of interesting stuff to buy and things to look at. Afterwards we toured the Great Synagogue which was beautiful and had some interesting history.
