Day 1: Chicago in the winter is a hit and miss...We wanted a quick weekend getaway somwhere close but somwhere fun so we said lets head to Chicago!
-Checked into the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel and wow was it amazing! Right in downtown and once you park your car you will not need it the rest of the time. When we checked in we were upgraded to an end room king suite which was big and it had great views! We could see the Chicago River from our room!
-But be prepared if you are parking a car it is $76.00 a night for valet which is crazy expenisve but it is the city and they do offer off site parking for $45.00 a day
-The hotel has a grand lobby with a very up beat bar. The hotel has a great vibe with so much decor geared towards being in Chicago.
-After check in we bundled up and walked to Millennium Park and went to see the famous Bean! It was nice being there in the winter becuase there was not a lot of people out. The weather was actually not bad. The sun was out so it made it nice to be out walking around.
-Lunch we ate a light snack becuase we had a nice dinner planned. We actuallu got a hot dog from a cart on the side of the road. These are probably the best hot dogs around!
-Go up to the 360 Observation Deck once you are up there you can have drinks and take in the most amazing views of Chicago! If you are afraid of heights do not worry everyhthing is in glass and you will not even know you are up that hight! Its pretty amazing to see in the day but the night is cool too with all the lights on in the city!
Dinner
If you love food like we do and love to try crazy things then you need to try Boka!! It is a Tapas restaurant and it is so good! We did the tasting menu and it was 5 courses and wow everything we had was crazy weird but the taste was out of this world. Go there and let the cheif cook for you and enjoy the night. We stayed there about 2 hours enjoying every dish and trying different wines. The dinner ran us about $275.00 which I did not think that was terrible being that the meal we had was so good and we drank a lot. Be sure to make reservations if this is a place you would like to eat at.
