Arriving: We took a early morning flight into San Fran and rented a car being that it is about an hour drive from the airport to Napa. A car cost us about $150.00 for 2 days but it was worth it to have. On our way to Napa we stopped in the city to see the Golden Gate Bridge. I am so glad we did this and it was very easy. You can go to the service center for the bridge and park they also have a inofrmation station that talks about the bridge and restrooms. From there we walked around the bridge and along the water. We spent maybe an hour here. It was nice to see and thats why we got a car so we could do things like that. Plus getting a uber into Napa from San Fran would be grazy expensive. #bridge #sanfran We arrived at our hotel early evening with tie to chek in get change and head out.
Hotel: We stayed at Spinghill Suites Napa Valley and it was great! They even give you a free breakfas which is a bonus. The hotel was around $300.00 a night but this was the cheapest one in the area and it was still pricey but the location was great. Lobby is big and beautiful and there is outdoor fireplaces, fridge in the room which was great to keep snacks and drinks in. #marriott The hotel is really close to everythign which is good when you want to go out and taste wine all day.
Wine: If you love wine Napa is the place you want to be. We could have reserved a wine tour for the day so we did not have to drive but we wanted to do our own thing and be on our own time so we decided to get a map and see where the car took us! If you like to be on your own schedule I would advise you to to do this on your own. We hit about 5 winiries this day but we stayed as long as we wanted, ate if we wanted to or just walked the property and had a glass of wine when we wanted to. There are sooooo many winries to choose from so its really up to you what you want to do that day or what you want to see or even what you want to eat. Every winery is unique in their own way. Some places have little markets where you can buy cheese, bread, meats and grab a seat on the lawn and have a little picnic, some have music, some have great views of the mountains, others you can walk the property and look at the grapes. Like I said its all what you want that day. Whatever you do you will not go wrong becuase the wine is great and the food and views are amazing. When you check into the hotel ask for a map they will give you one with all of the wineries and you can look to see where you want to go.
Food: As far as food goes we just snacked daily at each winery. There was no need to go to a big dinner or even a big lunch because as you visit each winery you will taste different foods. The good thing is the winiries mostly close by 7:00 pm so you are ready for bed by that time because its a long day of winery hopping. #eatasyougo
Activities: A MUST DO!!! We did the Hot Air Balloon ride at 6:00 am over Napa!! #hotairballoon Best experience ever! It ws about $250.00 for the both of us but it was the most amazing experience ever! Now I was a little nervour at first being it was our first time but its so peacful when you are up there. You get into this big basket and it fits around 10 people and there is plenty of room for everybody. They take you up and once you are up you float over all the vineyards and the mountains. Landing was a little scary becuase they make you squat and lean when you land and you do hit the ground kinda hard but its nothing terribel just makes you a little nerouvs at first. You are up in the air for about an hour or so. After you are done they take you in for a little breakfast at a local market and they provide you with muffins, coffee, tea and juice. #floatingovernapa
