Scenic Road Trip Around Mt. Hood

Day 2:

Continue east on I-84 to Hood River. Enjoy beautiful views of the Columbia River and stock up on any supplies here. Then, we headed south on I-35 and started to see beautiful views of Mt. Hood. There are lots of hikes and campgrounds in the area, Mt. Hood was a little too snowy when we were visiting for a hike up there so we chose to head to Trillium Lake. Mt. Hood is beautifully framed across the lake here.

If you have time, check out the Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. This is where the nature shots from The Shining were filmed! Of course in winter, there's great skiing here (expect snowy roads). During a couple months of summer, it's clear enough to hike around Mt. Hood. 

To finish off our trip, we took I-26 west towards Sandy and headed back to Portland.
