Rome - 3 Days in La Citta Eterna

Day 1: Arrive in Rome / Piazza Navona / Trastevere 
After taking a quick taxi ride from the airport in the late morning and checking in at the hotel (in the Trastevere region), we headed to the Piazza Navona area, where we spent much of the afternoon. The Bernini statues are exquisite, and the Church of Sant'Agnese in Agone is worth the visit. A short walk away is an amazing gelato shop called #Frigidarium, where I recommend a scoop of the Stracciatella. For dinner, we went to #DarPoeta in the Trastevere region, which is about a short 15-minute walk away. The pizza here is absolutely incredible (potentially the best I have ever had) and the caprese salad was quite good as well. 

Day 2: Colosseum / Pantheon / Trevi Fountain / Villa Borghese 
They say that the early bird catches the worm, and that is most certainly true when trying to visit many tourist sites in one day! Walking along the river in the morning hours (and then crossing the river), we headed to the #Colosseum, where we had purchased tickets online in advance. We spent about an hour walking around the inside and exploring its history. After a quick lunch, we headed to the #Pantheon (about a 20-minute walk away) to learn more about its history. Remember to look up when you go inside! Right around the corner from the Pantheon is the famous #TreviFountain. Although I did not toss a coin in the Fountain for good luck, I still felt pretty lucky just to be there with the finished Fountain (it had been under construction for quite some time beforehand). Be careful to watch your pockets as this area can get extremely crowded. After a few quick photos, we headed to the #VillaBorghese (another 20-minute walk away) to explore the grounds there. I treasured the peace and quiet of this area, which was strikingly different from the hectic city that I hail from. We spent a couple hours walking through the greenery here before heading back to the hotel. 

Day 3: Vatican City
Although it is the smallest country in the world, Vatican City has a lot to offer. Using the tickets that we booked online in advance, we spent much of the day exploring the beautiful Vatican museums. There is more artwork here than you could imagine, so it is easy to lose track of time. We headed into St. Peter’s Basilica after exploring the museums for a time of reflection. For dinner, we went to #Grazia&Graziella in Trastevere.
