Tilicho Lake Trekking with Thorang-la Pass Trek is Situated in the Manang district of North-Western Nepal, the otherworldly Tilicho is the lake at the highest elevation of the world at a stunning altitude of 4,919 meters. Tilicho Lake Thorong-La Pass Trekking will take you to the highest lake in the world that is nestled right in the middle of the Himalayas and a climb even higher to the Thorong-La Pass at 5,416 meters! Tilicho Lake Trekking and Thorong-La Pass encapsulate all the thrill and adventure you can experience in the Western Himalayas in a single trekking itinerary. Traveling through the beautiful alpine villages of Manang that are set in the foothills of the Annapurna massif to an emerald lake that reflects the crystal views of silver peaks in its water, being virtually within the reach of Gangapurna and Tillicho Peaks and crossing the enthralling Thorong-La Pass that is more a test of mind than body, are some unforgettable experiences awaiting you. Another noteworthy highlight of the trek is a trek to the restricted, ancient Mustang Kingdom before trekking down to the beautiful Lake City of Pokhara to relax at the end of the journey. The trail cuts through diverse elevations and has climates stretching from semi-tropical to the desert, and landscapes ranging from sub-tropical to alpine forests to snowy barren, and the staggeringly rocky Thorong-La Mountain Pass. Undoubtedly, one of the most enriching trips in the Manang district, you will be surprised to know that only a fraction of people embarking on a trek around the Annapurna venture out to the Tilicho Lake. However, this serves as a bonus point, as the trek routes are still remote and isolated, contrary to the classic, yet heavily commercialized routes to the base camp.
Before commencing the 17-day-long Tilicho Lake Thorong-La Pass Trekking, we will complete the sightseeing of some of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Kathmandu Valley. The trek commences with an 8-hour long bus drive to the beautiful and bustling town of Beshi Shahar in Lamjung District. From here, we will ascent through the banks of the choppy Marshyangdi River, while the views of Mt. Manaslu and Mt. Himchuli keep us invigorated through the trek. The remote and off-beaten trail will take you through different beautiful hamlets inhabited by ethnic groups like Brahmin, Chettri, and Tamang. At higher elevations, we will come across iconic Gurung settlements which heavily reflect the ancient Tibetan Buddhism. Finally, we will trek through Yak Kharka to reach the beautiful and holy Tilicho Lake.
Nestled in the laps of beautiful Himalayas, Tilicho Lake reflects the pristine views of the mountains that guard it. From there, we will continue our trek further uphill towards the Thorong La Pass. From the mountain pass, we will have a marvelous view of the western mountains like Annapurna massif and other towering satellites. After crossing the pass, we will reach the iconic Nepalese district of Mustang, which is also known as the land beyond the Himalayas. In Mustang, we will visit the holy, ancient site of Muktinath which is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites for Hindus and Buddhists alike. The trek will come to an end when we will trek down to Jomsom and catch a flight to the laid-back tourist city of Pokhara.
