KAOSIUNG!

What an amazing place, located in southern Taiwan this city is a must see if you are in the country! I'll be sharing just a few hilights from this awesome city!

Arriving here by train was nothing short of spectacular. I left from Tainan on a local train. The trip total was about 5 hours but there were plenty of sights to see on the way in.

There are so many options for accommodation. I stayed at the best hostel I have ever stayed at ever (shout-out TRIP GG Hostel). The rooms were cozy, pretty private even for multi bed dorms,and had an amazing lookout over the city. Not to mention all you can drink local beer happy hour for only 6 CAD.

Around the time I came into town it was not only around chinese new year but also the lantern festival along the love river! Each year hundreds of light displays are setup made of lanterns and truly give a beautiful glow off the river. I also had some of the best taiwanese bbq at this festival! So many places to choose from.

Because this city is located far in the south it's relatively close to Kenting National Park. Plenty of white sand beaches and coral waters to satiate all your beach desires! If you're looking for something a little closer, it is possible to train to Sizihwan beach area! It's a beautiful coastal beach area with forests nearby. Beautiful hiking around the area,just be wary of feral dogs in the forested areas.

Be sure to also check out Pier 2 arts district. It's an entire suburb dedicated to street art and has a very hipster vibe with all the things that are around. Do not miss it!

As I had mentioned in another itinerary, Taiwan definitely has a clubbing culture and Kaohsiung is not a stranger to it! There's a place called MUSE and it's absolutely raging. Seriously Las Vegas vibes. Kaohsiung has it all from markets to nightlife to festivals around every corner! If there's anything else you'd like to know about this city feel free to message me!
