  • Day 1

    • Rent car at airport from Blue Car rental
    • Drive to Reykjavik 
    • 10am walking tour
      • We went with citywalk.is. Great walking tour company and we learned a lot. Sara was great!
    • Check in to AirBnB
    • Explore Reykjavik!
      • We LOVED Baejarins Beztu for hot dogs. Cheap compared to a lot of food in the city (and Iceland in general) so we loaded up on these. 
      • Try all kinds of delicious local foods: puffin, minke whale, hakarl, brennevin, etc. Some of these foods may be controversial but we were told that they are harvested responsibly in Iceland. Highly recommend Tapas Barinn for dinner to try all these things.
      • Most of the highlights of the city were covered on our walking tour, but it was fun to visit Harpa Concert Hall separately to take it in.

  • Day 2

    • Golden Circle
      • Þórufoss (optional if we get out early enough)
      • Snorkeling at Silfra (8:30am - BOOKED)
      • Thingvellir National Park
        • Continental divide
        • Oldest parliament (930 AD)
      • Bruarfoss
      • Efstidalur - great ice cream!
      • Strokkur Geysir (erupts every 4-10 minutes)
      • Gullfoss
      • Secret Lagoon
    • Friðheimar tomato farm for a meal was great
    • Sleep near Selfoss

  • Day 3

    • Thjorsardalur / Haifoss if road is open, depends on season
    • Kerið
    • Seljalandsfoss
    • Gljúfrafoss
    • Nauthúsagil
      • One of the absolute best waterfall experiences of the trip, but does require driving on an F road to reach it
    • Skógafoss
    • Kvernufoss
      • Our favorite waterfall in Iceland. So close to Skógafoss but so much less busy. Short hike.
    • DC-3 Plane Wreck is another option. We didn't make time for it.
    • Sleep in Vik

  • Day 4

  • Day 5

    • Núpsstaður
      • Optional but cool - UNESCO site with an old farm and some buildings.
    • Skaftafell
      • We took a 5.5 hour Glacier Hike with Adventures.is - super highly recommend. One of the highlights of our trip.
    • Svartifoss
      • ~30 minute uphill hike after the glacier tour
    • Jökulsárlón 
    • Sleep near Kirkjubæjarklaustur

  • Day 6

    • Drive back to Reykjavik, stopping at anything you missed or want to see again
    • Reykjadalur Hot Springs
    • We did a bar crawl this night, worked great!
    • Sleep in Reykjavik

  • Day 7

    • Glymur hike (3-5 hours)
      • Only do this in the right weather. Ask TI in Reykjavik if the log is up for crossing the river. Can be a dangerous hike.
    • Sleep on Snaefellsnes

  • Day 8

    • Snaefellsnes loop
    • Kirkjufell
    • Djúpalónssandur
    • Arnastappi to Hellnar hike
    • Rauðfeldsgjá 
      • Absolutely amazing slot canyon hike along a stream.
