OVERALL ATMOSPHERE:
Onomichi was beautiful from mountaintop temples to seaside cafes. I, unfortunately, had to cut my cycle short to enjoy time in Onomichi before leaving early. August is hot and humid so it really drained me early, but I enjoyed exploring this area without any real plan.
LODGING:
I stayed at Setouchi.Knot Guesthouse in Onomichi for 2 nights, totaling $64 USD.
TRANSPORTATION:
To explore Onomichi I took a beautiful ropeway up the mountain to a mountaintop temple with views of the whole city, mountains, and Seto Inland Sea. It was cool to see from up above all the cycling I did! The second day I took a ferry from Onomichi to the Island of Setoda to visit Kousanji temple. The temple itself was one of my favorite in Japan and I loved the excursion.
FOOD:
Setoda is known for its lemons, so I picked up many lemon treats on the island. Other than that I went to my go-to favorites, okonomiyaki and Coco Ichibanya.
