Visited a small city called Linhai in Zhejiang province. I didnt know much about the city before I headed there but I was shocked to find out that it features the southern most point of the Great Wall of China.
Having been to the Great Wall in Beijing which is often crowded I was delighted to discover there was hardly anyone at the Great Wall in Linhai.
The Great Wall is pretty much in the centre of the city so it easy to get to. It costs 60rmb to enter and you will need a good few hours. Its not as hard to climb as the Beijing wall but can still be hard in many places. Make sure you bring water with you as limited places to get a drink once you have started the trek.
Other things to do in Linhai include the ancient shopping street which looks like it hasnt changed in 500 years and features souvenirs and restaurants selling local food and snacks. Prices were very reasonable and was nicely lit up in the evening. The street was very busy. BBQ is popular in Linhai and there are many places to try which will be open till late. And the local beer is cheap and not bad.
You only really need a weekend here and I would recommend the Atour Hotel which was about $50USD a night. This is right opposite a mall.
Good to know the Great Wall in Linhai is easily accessible and that BBQ is popular too!
