DAY 5:
On my 5th day in Sicily, I took the $20 bus ride from Catania to Cefalu. It's a pretty small town, so I walked to the Trinacria Hostel, my hostel of choice, in order to check-in. The fee for a night was $30, which is a little overpriced for what it offered, except for the location which was very good.
I started my visit of Cefalu by heading over to the cathedral. It's a classic norman cathedral with beautiful mosaics and marble pillars. It's a very picturesque building that fits in with the rest of the town. I had the option to climb the dome and get a nice view of the sea and the town, but I chose to walk up to La Rocca, a ruin situated on top of a hill. The view was remarkable, and I was lucky to be there in the morning, as it gets pretty hot at noon.
I'm not very interested in beaches, but the ones in Cefalu are pretty nice, so I rented a bike and I spent the rest of the day cycling on the seaside. In the evening, I had pasta with sardines for dinner at the Al Faro restaurant before going to sleep, to finally wrap up my trip to Sicily.
