Barry is a very small seaside town that was made famous by a hit tv show called Gavin and Stacey.
You can go into the cafe where Stacey worked, Marco's Cafe, go to the arcade where Tessa ran her slot machines and the beach that was the amazing backdrop for it all. Lucky enough, the cafe and arcade are next to each other right on the beach so you don't have to go far before you are technically on the set of the show.
Make sure you check the weather report before you go to see if it windy though as we went on a windy day and my car door nearly came off haha. I had to put a hat on to stop my hair flying all over the place.
There are a few little shops to buy souvenirs, cafes to get some food and sometimes a little fairground down by the cafe. If you have kids, they will love Barry Island Pleasure Park with kiddie rides, a ferris whelle, walters and dodgems.
If you like mini golf there is Smuggler's Cove which is pirate themed and loads of fun if you need somethign to do for an hour or so.
