If you are looking for a cheap as chips mini break to the seaside or just a cheap day out, Leysdown is the place to go. Located on the Isle Of Sheppey with not many means of transport, you are better off going by car.
This is the sort of place where you come to not do much but sit on the beach and chill out, spend a small fortune in the arcade or chill out in the pub people watching.
We usually go there for a good walk along the beach, have a few games on the silly machines in the arcade, have a look around the market if it's on (usually on a Sunday) and then finding somewhere to have something to eat and have a drink before going home.
This is the closest beach for a lot of people and as soon as the sun comes out, it will be packed full of people so know where you are going to park as the parking wardens will be out in force even on a Sunday. There is a little park and display car park just off of the main street that leads down to the beach. You can park on the main road if you have a blue disability badge, you can park there for 3 hours but if you don't have the blue badge, you will get a parking ticket.
There is a few places to eat like cafes, the Ron Wood fish and chip restaurant and the Rose and Crown pub. All do great cheap food but if you want super fresh seafood, go to the pub as they have a seafood stall that I always visit. Lovely fresh food and it's really cheap.
The pub is in 3 parts, the small inside bar, the large bar to the side and the outdoor seating area. It's a great pub and always really friendly staff. They do themed food nights during the summer and they are quite cheap.
There are caravan parks all around where you can rent a caravan or a chalet for a long weekend or a week for a little holiday. A lot of the parks have evening entertainment and restaurants.
There is a little theme park that is great for kids as it's all little fun rides for them, you can buy toekns for them to go on the rides.
There are quite a few arcades with lots of different games, try to get cash before you get to Leysdown as all of the ATMs with charge you for taking out money. There are machines for you to change notes into coins so don't worry if you just have notes.
