Margate is a fantastic seaside town that is great for a day out with the family.
The main thing to know is that everything you will need is on the seafront unless you are staying in a hotel and then you may end up going further away from the seafront.
I have stayed in the Premier Inn on the seafront and it's brilliantly located right next to the train station, it has a big car park and it's near everything you would want. the rooms are what I have come to expect from Premier Inn, lovely big rooms, comfy beds and a good nights sleep. You can have a buffet breakfast at extra cost but if you book online, you can order breakfast.
The beach is huge and gets really crowded on hot days. they have an ice cream stall at one end and a drinks hut at the other that serves cocktails. There are some trampolines that the kids can go on and other little stalls to entertain you but you do need to pay for these. There is a bit sea pool at the train station end of the beach, which is exactly what it sounds like, it is a pool that is filled with sea water. You can only go in it when the tide is out as it disappears under the sea when the tide comes in.
Dreamland is a brilliant little theme park that dates back to the 1870s, don't worry though, the rides aren't that old haha. the best thing to do is get a wristban which is about £20 and you can go on every ride as many times as you like and to save a bit of money, book it online before you go. They do have food stalls inside so they don't like you takeing your own food but you don't have to stay inside once you go in so you can always keep food in your car, go out to eat and then go back in.
If you like scare nights near halloween, Dreamland put on Screamland which is loads of fun. I have been before and had a brilliant night running around at laughing at getting scared. They do mazes for you to work your way through, some of the rides stay open so that you can go on them and they have live actors walking around all dressed up.
My favourite place to eat is the Mechanical Elephant, it is a Wetherspoons pub so the food is cheap but it's good food. I'd suggest downloading their app so that you can order your food and drinks without having to leave the table. They usually do really good deals like 3 plates for £10 which is great if there is a great of you as you will be able to share the food. the do meals that include a drink so you will get a soft drink or alcoholic drink with a pizza, buger, steaks, etc which work out to be a great deal.
