I traveled to Batumi from Turkey after traveling there for a few months. Batumi has remained as one of my favorite places because it is green, cheap (Cheaper than Thailand!), people are kind and it is not ruined by tourism. Here I tell some of the major things I did in this beautiful city.
Day 1 Arrival date.
First I went to my hostel called Batumi Surf Hostel (best hostel ever..!). Then I went to try some Georgian-Russian food such as khachapuri and khinkali. I explored the Batumi Boulevard and Europe Square.
Day 2
I visited Batumi Botanical Garden. Highly recommended!! It is a must!! You will be walking a lot. (min. 5 km). I went to a Caucasian dance festival in Batumi Boulevard. Indeed, I visited the boulevard many times...
Day 3
My last day in Batumi. I was preparing to leave for Tbilisi. I visited 6 May Park, Miracle Park, and Ali and Nino statue. Then I took a train to Tbilisi, which is super comfortable and modern. Best views from the window! I wish you a good trip to Batumi for everyone!
Recommendations:
-Eat a lot of Georgian food. Please try to avoid tourist areas due to high prices. For fine dining, I recommend the area of Europe Square. There is a lot of casinos as well.
-Swim at the beach (Makhinjauri beach...)
-Talk with local people ;)
-Go to Miracle Park & Batumi Boulevard (favorite ones!)
Be aware of:
-If you are crossing the border from Turkey, be careful with the taxis. Please ask the price. A lot of tourists are coming from this border and there may be some scammers around waiting for you.
-Restaurants at tourist places tend to be much expensive
-Some local people do not like foreigners. Some may not want to speak in Russian or English language( I had this issue in Tbilisi only!).
